Youth Job Connection (YJC)
Youth Job Connection (TJC)

  • The goal of the program is to improve participants' employability and develop skills relevant to career goals. It is designed to provide opportunities for participants to learn more about themselves and the hidden job market, research career interests and prepare for the world of work. The program focuses on topics such as career exploration, job search skills, self-esteem, effective communication, goal setting, employer and employee rights and responsibilities and health and safety training. To be eligible, the young person should be between the ages of 15 and 29 years of age, have a secure residence, be out of school, not receiving EI or WSIB benefits and not involved in any other similar government program. This is a 2-3 week workshop running Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. Participants are paid minimun wage. After completion of the program, participants are eligible for subsidized placements for up to 26 weeks.
  • This is an ideal program for students who have graduated this past February, have left school without graduating or who will be graduating this June and need some assistance with employment skills.
